As a town known for
its richness in history and tradition, Ennis dates
back to the 13th century, when it was originally
settled around the site of a Francisan Friary.
With the Friary's magnificent ruins still at its
center, the town exists today as a thriving market-place
known for its narrow, winding streets and colourful
shopfronts and pubs.
Situated on the main
Galway/Limerick Road (N18), the Auburn Lodge Hotel
is just 15km
from Shannon International Airports.
Located only 15km away is Bunratty Castle and
Folk Park. Dating back to 1425, the castle is
the most authentic and complete castle in Ireland.
Also located
on its grounds is the recreation of a 19th Century village, complete with shops,
crafts and tea room.
For the golf enthusiast
there are many fine golf courses in the area. These
include Ennis, Lahinch, Ballybunion,
Woodstock, Dromoland and Shannon.
Just North
along the Coast of Clare, are the famous Cliffs
of Moher. Stretching over 5 miles
long and rising over 700 feet, they provide
a truly spectacular
view of the Clare coastline, the Aran Islands and the hills of Kerry and
Connemara.
